Zain, the leading telecommunications company in Kuwait, announced its official sponsorship of the Kuwait Grand Photography Contest for the second year running. The contest comes under the patronage of HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al Hamad Al Subah and direct support of HE the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al Mubarak Al Subah.
Zain’s sponsorship of this competition, considered the largest of its kind in the country, comes as part of the company’s endless efforts to highlight and support Kuwaiti youth’s hidden talents, especially since photography is considered one of the most adopted hobbies in Kuwait.
The previous edition of Kuwait Grand Photography Contest witnessed the participation of 1000 applicants who submitted 5000 photos, from which the winning photos were selected. This year’s contest will witness the participation of a number of professional photographers from the Gulf Region who will visit Kuwait especially for this occasion.
Participants can submit their photos in one of seven categories that include the Art of Light, Kuwait, Natural Scenery, Islamic Culture, Sports, and the general category. Registration is open until the 6th of March through kwtphotography.com. 7 judges from Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, and the UK will form the judging panel that will select the winning photos and announce the winners on the 15th of April.
Zain’s sponsorship of the contest springs from the company’s core belief that equipping young people with skills and tools necessary to help them navigate their future lives is an opportunity it should not pass on. Photography is developing to become a well-recognized and regarded profession and Zain is keen to support its further development within the local community.
