The Zayed University (ZU) and the UAE State Audit Institution (SAI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at attracting and empowering UAE national cadres of talented young graduates from ZU.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Professor Reyadh AlMehaideb, Vice President of ZU and His Excellency Mohammed Rashid Al Zaabi, Undersecretary at the SAI in ZU’s Abu Dhabi campus.
The event was also attended by Dr. Marilyn Roberts, Acting Provost at ZU and number of staff and administrators from both parties.
The agreement reflects both ZU and SAI’s strong commitment to promoting and enhancing the integration of national manpower into the country’s workforce, in line with the UAE government’s strategy and UAE’s 2021 vision, which aims to empower Emiratisation and shift towards a knowledge-based economy pioneered by UAE nationals with a skill set revolving around creativity and innovation.
On this occasion, Professor AlMehaideb said: “I am delighted and honoured to sign this MoU with the SAI in a major step aiming at reinforcing and strengthening collaborative partnership with SAI, as the highest financial and accounting body in the UAE and a competitive government entity that encourages more UAE nationals to enter the accounting, information technology and business administration professions.”
“Likewise, ZU is one of the top leading universities in the UAE that has continuously prepared its students to create, develop, lead and sustain organizations. The dynamic and complex, even turbulent business world locally, nationally, regionally and globally has never been more exciting. Therefore, the College of Business programs at ZU have been designed to prepare students for those exciting challenges through empowering them with the academic, professional and leadership competencies necessary to achieve success as effective leaders within the competitive business context,” he added.
Professor AlMehaideb also emphasized that ZU has implemented a high-quality teaching environment and demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement. The College of Business received accreditation from the Association for the Advancement of Collegiate School of Business (AACSB-International) in 2013. This accreditation represents the highest achievement for an educational institution that awards business degrees with less than five per cent of all business schools worldwide have earned it.
“Therefore, the MoU signed here today will help provide both parties with a committed approach to working more closely together and will allow us to reach our common goals and objectives,” he added.
Through this Memorandum, the SAI aims to highlight the importance of audit profession and introduce students to the SAI, as a competitive workplace in the public sector.
“It is our great pleasure to partner with ZU as one of the top leading universities in the UAE. The SAI is striving to become one of the world’s top audit institutions and working towards this goal by introducing best practices, recruiting the best people, and offering the best professional career path to UAE national graduates including ZU graduates,” Al Zaabi said.
“Our main target of this MoU is to attract young and fresh Emirati graduates and train them to investigate any financial irregularities uncovered in federal organizations, as the SAI has the power to review documents and records and use all means to recover funds that have been spent illegally. The right candidate, who will have the opportunity to work at SAI, should comply with both federal, state and local security legal requirements as well as audit, documentation and attention to details skills,” he added.
“The SAI will organize introductory workshops for ZU students to help raise awareness, showcase the audit profession, and motivate students towards opting for accounting, information technology and business administration specializations,” he added.
It is worth mentioning that the SAI will collaborate with the Student Careers Office at ZU will to provide training and internships opportunities for undergraduate students as well as recruitment opportunities for graduates in the desired professions.
Additionally, both parties will organize several activities and events related to areas of cooperation.
