Hyperloop is completely sustainable and totally electric with zero direct carbon emissions, and seven to ten times more energy efficient than air travel
Imagine being able to travel when you wish to travel, never having to worry about timetables, missed commutes or delayed schedules. Also imagine feeling like royalty as you enter a massive, magnetically levitated, pressurized pod equipped with ultra-luxury features, travelling at the speed of light from one city to another, traffic woes a thing of the past. Yes, the Hyperloop is here, and it’s all set to change the way we move, live and work.
The excitement was palpable at the Dubai International Motor Show, where a prototype of the Hyperloop was displayed, attracting most of the attention. Its sleek but unassuming exterior didn’t give away any hints about its super luxury interior with modern seating, temperature-controlled ambience and a look and feel unlike no other mode of transport you’ve ever seen. No, not even the ultra-high-end sports cars out there could hold a candle to this show stopper that is all set to redefine mobility.
“There hasn’t been a new mode of transport in over 500 years,” said Sarah Iskander, Strategy and Growth Lead at Hyperloop One. “This brand new machine is all set to revolutionize the way we travel, work and live and the world’s ready for it. Hyperloop is completely sustainable and completely electric with zero direct carbon emissions, and seven-ten times more energy efficient than air travel. We’re completely autonomous, fully enclosed eliminating all weather hazards and is completely eco-friendly.
The wonders of the Hyperloop don’t end there. It is built in such a way that it can enter into pre-existing infrastructure and is very minimally invasive. “We have one of the most advanced AI technologies and superbrains working on this new technology at our test site in Los Angeles. The beauty of it is that with the Hyperloop, we can speed up the timetables and customize the rides based on demand and number of riders. No other mode of transport can do that,” Iskander says. “We are utilizing the best of new technology and our team is really committed to enhancing the customer experience.”
“We are enthused by the response from this region, and technology is taking us to a point where we can travel from one city to another at speeds greater than 1000km/hr in under 30 minutes, where it would previously take hours. In addition to passenger travel, we are working with one of our UAE-based partners, DP World, to bring in another feature called the Cargo Speed, which can deliver high priority, on-demand cargo, at the speed of light, close to the cost of trucking. As global, E-commerce demands increase and the world wants their goods delivered ‘yesterday’, Hyperloop steps in to take care of this aspect as well. So you see how Hyperloop can address every aspect of transport and mobility, with great speed and accuracy. The idea of freedom in mobility, is exciting and much anticipated,” Iskander points out.
So what about costs? Surely, a beast such as this one, will burn a hole in one’s pocket?
“No, the hyperloop is extremely affordable,” Iskander says. “Our goal is to make travel accessible to everybody and so Hyperloop will cost about as much as a first class ticket.”
That’s why, as Abdul Nasser a visitor to the Motor Show, said: “We’re going into a space that is exciting, unbelievable and unpredictable. Imagine traffic no longer being a point of concern. Truly, the Hyperloop is a source of wonder and awesomeness. I can hardly wait for it."
