Al Jazeera could be set to enter Premier League bidding war

Doha-based Al Jazeera is set to enter the bidding for the rights to broadcast live English Premier League matches, has reported. The tender process for the 2013-14 season is scheduled to begin early next year. The TV network will bid for the exclusive Middle East and North Africa broadcast rights package, which is currently held by the Abu Dhabi Media Co. Al Jazeera is also considering to enter into the pay-per-view UK market, where the live rights are currently shared between Sky, who hold five of the six 23-game packages, and ESPN.
