Comcast buys Microsoft’s MSNBC stake

Microsoft has sold its 50% stake in MSNBC.com to the parent company of NBC, Comcast Corp, the New York Times has reported, citing people with knowledge of the transaction. Under the $300m deal, Comcast would assume full control of the news web site, which has been renamed NBCNews.com. NBC and Microsoft joined forces in 1996 to create a cable news channel and online news operation that melded broadcasting with then-emerging internet technology.
