Today du caters to more than 100,000 IPTV customers and their unique requirements when it comes to the viewing experience. Enabling customers to have a multichannel & on demand experience regardless of their viewing platform – free of charge – is one of the ways in which du adds life to life.
du took on a significant challenge when it decided to launch du View for its subscriberslate 2014. As one of only two telco operators in the UAE, du caters to more than 180 nationalities in the country and, therefore, required to introduce a solution that would appeal to a varied audience. Today, the telco’s state-of-the-art offering includes the latest features making it a popular contender in the OTT environment. The service is compatible with iOS, Android, Samsung smart TVs and Xbox One. All customers have to do is download the app and, using their standard selfcare username and password and sign in towatch TV & on demand content wherever, whenever and from a device of their choice
In October 2015, du released an upgraded version of the app, granting users access to a dedicated 360 degree channel – another regional first. Interactive 360 degree videos give an immersive virtual reality experience with recordings of real world scenes, where the view in every direction is recorded at the same time. During playback the viewer has control of the viewing direction, up down & sideways – du View also allows the content to be viewed via VR goggles such as Google cardboard.
