Facebook introduces mobile ads in News Feed

Facebook Inc. has introduced its first mobile ads, in what analysts described as a first step toward addressing one of the shortcomings that led to its disappointing IPO, Forbes has reported. The ads will be Sponsored Stories, Facebook's name for posts from one's friends that marketers pay to highlight, and they will appear directly in people's news feeds, not just on the right side of the page where most ads reside. The mobile ads are part of an announcement by Facebook that advertisers now will be able to choose more precisely where they can place Sponsored Stories - on the news feed on desktop/laptop devices, on mobile news feeds, or in combination with right-hand-side ads on PCs.
