Less than a month after the UAE’s Mars mission was announced, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, launched a book on the topic, titled Hope Probe.
The book, launched on Saturday, discuses the different aspects of the ambitious project, its purpose and aim, the gains that would result from it and provides a useful history about the red planet and the different expeditions targeting it.
“On the 2nd of December 1971, the first man-made spaceship landed on Mars, our country’s journey began on that same day. Fifty years later the two will meet at a point that is 60 million kilometers away from us,” Sheikh Mohammed tweeted in Arabic on his official Twitter account.
The spacecraft, called “Hope”, is currently being built and is scheduled to be launched on an unnamed probe to Mars by 2021.
