Complex Made Simple

Mayo Clinic Care Network signs first regional member

American Hospital Dubai has become the first healthcare organisation in the Middle East to join the Mayo Clinic Care Network.

Mayo Clinic is a nonprofit organisation committed to clinical practice, education and research. Through an international network, it provides expert, whole-person care to those in need of healing.

“We are very proud to be the first hospital in the Middle East to be selected to join the prestigious May Clinic Care Network,” said Peter Makowski, CEO of American Hospital Dubai.

“We look forward to building on the high standards of care we have in place and enhancing quality even more. As one of the pioneers of private healthcare, we are determined to push the bar even higher in the Middle East when it comes to patient-centric care – a commitment we share with Mayo Clinic,” Makowski added.

The agreement gives the American Hospital Dubai access to the latest Mayo Clinic knowledge base and further promotes and encourages collaboration amongst physicians. The shared resources aim to answer complex medical questions posed by members around the world.

As a member of Mayo Clinic Care Network, the American Hospital Dubai will share medical knowledge and clinical expertise to enhance patient care. It can also utilise the network’s products and services, which include enabling the hospital to connect with Mayo specialists electronically through eConsults, for additional input on patients’ cases.

The hospital will be able to attend and discuss management of complex cancer cases with a multidisciplinary panel of Mayo specialists and other network members at eTumor.

This is not the first accolade for American Hospital Dubai. The hospital, founded in 1996 with the aim of bringing US standards of health to Dubai, was the first private institution in the Middle East to be accredited by the Joint Commission International.

This comes to further strengthen the efforts taken by the UAE – and Dubai, specifically – to become a leading hub for medical tourism and a safe haven for those seeking medical treatments from around the world.
