Al-Rajhi Steel plant in Jeddah shut down for environmental violations

Al-Rajhi Steel, Jeddah's biggest steel factory, has been shut down by authorities for environmental violations, Arab News has reported. The company filed an appeal with the municipality and rural affairs ministry requesting that a special committee examine the factory and address the flaws, but the Jeddah governorate rejected the appeal, saying public health concerns prompted the closure decision. The factory shall remain closed until permanent solutions were sought and implemented by Al-Rajhi Steel's management, the governorate said.
