Bahrain to spend over $2.5bn on infrastructure by 2023

Bahraini works minister Essam Khalaf has said the government will spend more than $2.5bn (BD945m) on infrastructure projects in the next 10 years, Gulf Daily News has reported. The projects will be funded by the $10bn 'GCC Marshall Plan,' which aims to boost public spending and accelerate the growth of Bahrain's economy, said Khalaf. The projects include developing the country's road network, the Alba and Nuwaidrat interchange and building six new schools, he said. "These projects and many others will be financed by funds from the GCC, of which Bahrain is to receive $10bn (BD3.77bn), in the next 10 years," Khalaf told the daily.
