BankDhofar ready to launch Islamic banking

Omani lender BankDhofar has said it is ready to launch its new Islamic banking services, subject to the Omani central bank approval, Times of Oman has reported. The Shari'ah-compliant service, called 'Maisarah,' will be a fully serviced Islamic window which will enable customers to access Islamic products and services through its Islamic banking division which was established at the start of the year. "There is a lot of interest in Islamic banking in Oman and we have put the processes in place within our bank to ensure we are ready to offer the best Sharia-compliant products and services," said Tony Mahoney, chief executive of BankDhofar. "Our systems were also upgraded and tested to ensure that a smooth transition to Islamic banking can be made as soon as Central Bank of Oman approval is in place."
