Canada hits Oman's Jazeera Steel with anti-dumping duty

Omani steel pipes maker Al Jazeera Steel Products Co has announced its decision to stop steel pipes exports to Canada, where it said it has 'limited' business interests, Oman Daily Observer has reported. Last week, Al Jazeera Steel announced that the Canada International Trade Tribune (CITT) had imposed an anti-dumping duty amounting to 54.2% on its pipe exports to the North American country, despite an earlier ruling by the Tribunal that Al Jazeera's Steel's products caused no "injury" to local steel manufacturers. "As our business interest in Canada are limited, and the potential of our speculative volumes not substantial we have decided not to export to Canada and there shall be no impact in the operation of the company," Al Jazeera said.
