Centre for blood, marrow diseases to come up in Oman

Oman's Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) has awarded a contract to build the National Centre for the Treatment of Blood Diseases and Bone Marrow Transplant, Times of Oman has reported. The new centre comes in response to urgency caused by the spread of hereditary blood diseases in the sultanate, said Dr Ali bin Saud Al Bimani, vice chancellor of SQU. It will provide treatment of diseases that require marrow transplant including Pernicious Anaemia, Sickle cell anaemia and Thalassaemia, and many HIV diseases, he said.
