Egypt to apply 'temporarily' protective tariffs on imported steel rebar

Egyptian industry and foreign trade ministry has announced that protective tariffs on imported steel rebar would temporarily be applied at a rate of 6.8% at a minimum of EGP299 ($48.9) per tonne for around seven months, Ahram has reported. The decision came as a response to the demands of Egyptian steel producers to protect the local market from imported steel rebar, especially those coming from Turkey and Algeria, the ministry said.
