GEMS to shut down Dubai's Westminster School in 2014

GEMS Education has announced the Westminster School in Dubai will close down from June 2014, Gulf News has reported. The school operator said fee regulations imposed by the Dubai government has made the British curriculum school unsustainable. "In recent times GEMS' ability to invest the resources required to produce the improvements needed, both educationally and in infrastructure, have been severely restricted because of the current fee structure," GEMS said. At the Westminster School, over the past five years the average fee increase, per annum, has been just Dhs167. That equates to around Dhs13 a month. For two of the past five years there has been no fee increase at all," it said.
