Saudi health ministry has approved the reopening of Jeddah's Dr Erfan & Bagedo General Hospital after a 60-day closure, Saudi Gazette has reported. The hospital was shut down on November 18 for two months following the death of an eight-year-old due to a medical error during a surgery. "The minister has directed that the performance of the hospital should be evaluated after six months to ascertain whether it is fulfilling the required safety conditions and standards," said Dr Sami Badawood, director of health affairs in Jeddah region. The hospital's OPD, laboratory, pharmacy, and inpatient units will start functioning in the first phase. In the second phase, other sections of the hospital will resume work after a few days, said Badawood.
