Labour disputes in Qatar drop sharply

Qatar's labour ministry has reported a decline in the number of complaints it received from expatriate workers, and said a majority of the disputes are now being resolved amicably, the Peninsula has reported. The ministry currently receives 350 to 400 complaints from workers every month. "Earlier we used to get a about 1,000 complaints monthly," said Saleh Al Shawi, public relations director at the ministry. Some 90% of the disputes involving workers and the employers are settled amicably following intervention by the ministry and only 10% are referred to the court, he added.
