Lebanese insurers post 25.6% rise in 2011 income

According to Lebanon's Association of Insurance Companies, net profits of insurance companies in the country rose 25.6% to $111.4m in 2011, compared with a total of $88.7m recorded in 2010, The Daily Star has reported. Total assets of insurance companies also climbed 9.6% to $3.4bn at the end of 2011 from $3.1bn at end-2010. The life segment posted an 8% growth in written premiums to $369.4m in 2011, compared with $342.1m in 2010, the association said.
