Lebanese restaurant owners plan sit-in over smoking ban

Lebanon's Association of Restaurant Owners has said it will hold a sit-in today to press the government to amend a recently passed indoor smoking ban, The Daily Star has reported. "The 'traditional ways' [of protest] and visits to top officials have failed to alleviate the huge losses restaurants [incurred because of the law number 174]," said Toni al-Rami, secretary-general of the association. "Restaurants saw business falling between 70 and 80% just before the Ashrafieh explosion and [even worse following the explosion]."
