New developments to bring down rents in Mecca

The Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) has said that more than 100 high-rise buildings with a total room capacity of 24,480 and at a total cost of SR18.3bn are being constructed in Makkah, Saudi Gazette has reported. Two of the biggest projects in the holy city are at Jabal Omar and Jabal Al-Ka'aba, said Dr Salah Al-Bakheet, deputy director of investment department at SCTA. The Jabal Omar Project consists of 18 towers, while the Jabal Al-Ka'aba Project comprises six towers with 8,500 rooms being built at a total cost of SR10bn, he said.
