Omani consumer watchdog to launch app for commodity prices

Oman's consumer watchdog is set to launch a smartphone application which will deliver information on commodities to consumers, Muscat Daily has reported. The application by the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) will advise consumers on the cheapest commodity markets, in addition to enabling consumers to report violations and submit complaints, said Omar bin Faisal al Jahadmi, director general of consumer services and marketing control at PACP. "The app will help foster a sense of competition among supermarkets and hypermarkets to provide consumers with the best available prices in order to attract more footfalls," Jahadmi added.
