Saudi Arabia to introduce Ejar system in mid-2013

Saudi housing ministry is set to introduce a new rent regulatory system from mid-2013, Saudi Gazette has reported. The Ejar (rent) system, which will regulate landlord/tenant relations and outline their legal rights, aims to put an end to negative practices of some tenants, especially those who default on payments. The system will be tested in some regions before it becomes available throughout the kingdom, said the ministry's director of public relations, Muhammad Al-Ghwainim.
