Saudi launches new body to boost education

The Saudi education ministry has announced the launch of the General Education Evaluation Authority for the development of education in the kingdom, Arab News has reported. The new body was set up last month with the aim of assessing the performance of both public and private schools in the country. The Riyadh-based authority, which will conduct standardised national tests for each educational level, will be financially and administratively independent and operate under a governor, the ministry said.
