UAEU to reconsider English tests for Arabic and Islamic studies students

The UAE minister of higher education, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, has said English tests for students wishing to enrol in Arabic and Islamic studies in the the UAE University (UAEU) aim to enable students command the minimum skills of English language regardless of their specialisation, Wam has reported. Sheikh Nahyan was answering a question raised by a Federal National Council member who said the prerequisite led students to join oversees universities that don't ask them to sit for these tests. "The UAEU will consider this matter... we have gained international recognitions that many countries didn't have... we can also take advice of the house education committee,' Sheikh Nahyan said.
