Airports waste 18% of fuel

The aviation industry wastes about 18% of its fuel each year through operational and infrastructure inefficiencies at airports, presenting the Middle East with an environmental headache as its travel sector continues to boom. Equating to 120 million tonnes of carbon dioxide, the aviation sector in the Middle East is predicted to grow 40% over the next three years, the largest regional growth in the world. Airports and governments will discuss ways to help combat inefficiencies and potential environmental issues at the Future Airports conference in Dubai in June.
