Beirut's Le Bristol to spend $30m on renovation

Lebanon's iconic hotel Le Bristol has announced plans to invest up to $30m in renovations, despite the security and political turmoil that wreaked havoc on the country's tourism sector, The Daily Star has reported. "This hotel is 62 years old so we are thinking about the next 50 years, not the next 50 days," said the hotel's chairman, Pierre Doumet. The nine-month renovation project will aim to restore the hotel to its original glamour, Doumet, added. "The hotel will return to what it was during its first 20 years of operations," he added.
