Dubai-based marine terminals operator DP World has announced its UK-based unit, DP World London Gateway, has signed an agreement with DB Schenker Rail to provide rail services at the upcoming deep-sea port on the north bank of the River Thames. Europe's largest logistics park, the London Gateway, which opens in the fourth quarter of 2013, will provide unrivalled deep-sea shipping access to the largest consumer markets in the UK, DP World said. According to the deal, DB Schenker Rail introduce at least four rail freight services a day (four in, four out), subject to volumes, and will serve a range of inland terminals including potential new UK locations. Additional rail freight services will be introduced in the future, the firm said.
