Dreamliner fire in Heathrow not caused by battery

The UK's Air Accidents Investigation Branch has said the fire on board a Boeing 787 Dreamliner parked at London's Heathrow airport doesn't appear to be related to the battery system malfunction that grounded the aircraft fleet earlier this year, Bloomberg has reported. There is "no evidence of a direct causal relationship" at this stage, the regulator said. The Dreamliner sustained "extensive heat damage in the upper portion of the rear fuselage, a complex part of the aircraft," the AAIB said.
