The Traffic Department of Dubai Police has rolled out a new handheld device to be used by the traffic police to record traffic violations, Gulf News has reported. The device allows for conversations between the police and the motorist to be recorded in both video and audio. The information will then be transferred immediately to the General Traffic Department, said Maj. Gen. Mohammad Saif Al Zafein, director of the Traffic Department. "The device will offer all kinds of transparency and integrity while issuing fines," he said. The police will inform the violator that everything is being videotaped, and in the case of a woman there will be only an audio recording in order to maintain her privacy," he said.
