Etihad's Jet stake deal may be finalised in May

Etihad Airways' stake purchase deal of India's Jet Airways may be finalised within a month, Business Standard has reported, citing a source in the aviation ministry. "The issues related to Bilateral Investment Protection Agreement (BIPA) with UAE will take its own course," said the source. "The government is finding ways to assure UAE government on investments into India. The deal could be finalised even before BIPA takes shape." Etihad has been in talks over an equity stake in Jet of 24% since September, but the deal has slowed over concerns of past failed forays by Gulf investors into India and the Abu Dhabi-based airline's demands to protect its potential investment.
