Firms hunt Dubai tram deal

Three consortia including firms such as France's Alstom, Japan's Marubeni Corporation and Australia's Leighton Holdings are bidding for a $545m design and build contract to set up a tram system in Dubai, reported our sister publication Meed. The proposed tram route will include the Palm Jumeirah and Mall of the Emirates and the first lines should come on stream at the same time as the Dubai Metro in 2009.
