General Motors Middle East has said its total sales in the region in September 2012 climbed 20% year-on-year to 11,785 vehicles, making the month the best sales period since 2008, Saudi Gazette has reported. The highest growth rate was recorded in GM's largest market in the region, Saudi Arabia, where sales increased by 41%, while impressive sales growth was also recorded in the UAE and Qatar, which were up 30% and 27%, respectively. September was also another record sales month for the new Chevrolet Malibu midsize sedan. Launched in May 2012, the eighth generation Malibu passed the 1,000 monthly sales barrier for the first time. GM's year-to-date sales in the GCC are up 11% compared with the same period in 2011.
