Iraqi lender acquires two Airbus aircraft for lease

The Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI) has purchased two Airbus passenger planes from Germany at the cost of $86m, each capable of carrying around 200 passengers, Arabian Aerospace has reported. The two aircraft were made in 2009 but had not been put into service since they were manufactured, said TBI chairman, Hamdiya al-Jaff. The planes will be available for airlines to charter or lease to enable them to increase capacity during the seasons of Haj and other pilgrimages to Makkah, she said.
