Kuwait set to hit 100,000 citizens, expats with travel ban

The Kuwaiti government is set to impose a travel ban on 100,000 nationals and expatriates for failing to settle their financial dues to the state, Kuwait Times has reported. To be imposed on January 2, the ban aims to recover some of the KD900m owed to the state in unpaid fines, said prosecution official, Mohammad Al Duaij. "Following a recommendation by the government to address the issue, each ministry conducted a study to assess the amounts due from people. The justice ministry for instance said that it has not collected KD12m. The first measure to address this situation was to impose a travel ban," he said.
