Lebanese tourism ministry says occupancy rates unaffected by new PM appointment

The Lebanese tourism ministry has said the appointment of Tammam Salam as prime minister-designate of the country has had no effect on hotels' room occupancy levels, The Daily Star has reported. The ministry was responding to comments by the head of the Hotel Owners Association, Pierre Achkar, that room occupancy reached 82% since the resignation of former prime minister Najib Mikati. The average room occupancy is still 50%, the ministry said, adding that this figure has not changed since Mikati's resignation.
