Lebanon's fibre-optic network to be completed in April 2013

Lebanese telecoms minister, Nicolas Sehnaoui, has announced linking telecoms switchboards to a fibre-optics network is to be completed in April 2013, The Daily Star has reported. "The Lebanese would feel a qualitative shift in [internet connections] speed," Sehnaoui said. In 2011, Swedish telecoms equipment maker Ericsson won a $6.3m first phase bid to set up Lebanon's Optical Transport Network.
