Mideast air passenger growth slows to 7.4%

Air passenger growth in the Middle East, declined to 7.4% in January, a sign that carriers in the region may face a slowdown this year, reported Gulf News. Carriers in the Middle East had recorded an 18.1% increase in passenger traffic in 2007, continuing a four-year trend of double-digit growth. The International Air Transport Association, the Geneva-based group representing 240 airlines, attributed the January slump to 'slower growth in capacity'.
