Muscat airport traffic up 20%

Omani aviation authorities has said the overall passenger traffic through Muscat International Airport grew 20% to 3,749,000 passengers until June compared to 3,114,452 passengers for the same period of 2011, Oman Daily Observer has reported. Air cargo traffic at Muscat airport also increased by 23% to 59,007 tonnes, compared with 48,099 tonnes during the same period last year. Meanwhile, Salalah Airport also saw a 25% rise in the total number of arriving and departing passengers to 294,209, compared with 236,288 for the same period in 2011. Freight traffic witnessed a 4% rise to 670 tonnes, compared with 646 tonnes during the same period in 2011.
