Muscat municipality to set up market for used cars

The municipality of Oman's capital city, Muscat, has announced plans to set up a dedicated market in Barka's Al Filaje area for local companies dealing in used cars, Muscat Daily has reported. "Muscat has 51 showrooms of used cars, and the municipality is now in the initial planning stages for the new market for such cars, which will bring all dealers in one place, away from main roads and public facilities," said a Muscat municipality official. According to the plan, the market will be set up over 82,500 sq m and will have open showrooms, each one having an area ranging from 200 sq m to 600 sq m with an attached office. The market will have showrooms for new cars, as well, spread over 49,500 sq m besides a 1,500 sq m area for auction of vehicles. "Work is expected to start by the end of this year if all goes as planned," the official said.
