Oman's Khareef festival sees 31% drop in tourists

According to a survey by the Omani government, the number of tourists to the Khareef Salalah in Dhofar governorate fell 30.9% between June 21 and July 18, 2012, Times of Oman has reported. A total of 112,376 people visited the region, including 98,332 from the GCC, a decline of 36.4% compared to the same period last year, though they comprised 87.5% of the total visitors. Asians visitors came second with 10,930 tourists, a rise of 94.4% compared with the same period in 2011, the survey said.
