Oman's TRC signs road safety pacts

The Research Council (TRC) in Oman has signed two agreements with Queensland University of Technology, Australia, to conduct two research papers dealing with heavy vehicles and the safety of debutant drivers, Oman Daily Observer has reported. The first of the research proposals seeks to explore operations and missions of heavy vehicles and their types of accidents in the Sultanate, as well as proposed revision of laws and legislations in the country dealing with the management of the work of truck fleets. The second research aims to develop a comprehensive approach towards improving the safety of starting drivers, the TRC said. It will explore common understanding of the risks to which debutant drivers are exposed, it added.
