Oman's Port Sultan Qaboos (PSQ) has said the volume of cargo handled grew 12.4% to 12.3 million FRT in 2012, compared with 10.9 million FRT handled in 2011, Times of Oman has reported. "Based on this increase in the volume of traffic, the port's operating revenues increased by 13.6% from OR19.3m in 2011 to OR21.9m in 2012," said PSQ chairman, Mohammed Jawad bin Hassan bin Suleiman. The port handled 1,361 vessels in 2012 due to an increase in container vessels and car carriers, resulting from the increase in the importation of containers and vehicles, added bin Suleiman.
