Qatar Airways will open Saudi market if red tape cut

Akbar Al Baker, the chief executive of Qatar Airways has said Saudi civil aviation authorities need a "fundamental rethink" of policies if they wants to attract foreign investments into the sector, AIN has reported. Last month Al Baker told Prince Fahad bin Abdullah Al Saud, head of the General Authority for Civil Aviation he would divert the Doha-based carrier's resources into redeveloping the Saudi airline sector, only if the kingdom's government agrees to rethink policies such as capping of domestic air fares and inflated charges for aviation fuel and remove the regulatory shackles that have held back any serious entrepreneurial approach to the market, the report said.
