Saudi $2.4bn from pilgrims

Saudi Arabia is set to earn as much as $2.4bn from this year's Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, reported Gulf News citing figures from the Medina Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It is estimated revenues could reach as high as $4.8bn within the next decade. Pilgrims account for around 1.2% of the kingdom's GNP and more hotels and housing units are likely to be built to cope with increasing demand.
