Syrian conflict forcing Lebanese trucks to abandon Damascus road

The Lebanese truckers' syndicate has said trucks carrying regional exports are crossing to Iraq through the Syrian city of Homs before entering Jordan, as the deteriorating security in Syria has forced Lebanese trucks to abandon the Damascus road altogether, The Daily Star has reported. "It's true that [the route through Iraq] costs a bit more than going from Masnaa through Damascus, but we don't really have a choice," said the head of the truckers' syndicate, Chafik al-Kassis.
