The UAE central bank has urged the country's telecoms operators Etisalat and Du to cut their service charges to aid the government's plans to make its services available and affordable through smartphones, Khaleej Times has reported. Among the proposed cost cuts are those of core systems and telecoms services such as data transmission and SMS messages. The banking regulator also asked Etisalat and Du to enable payment transactions in order to encourage customers to carry out transactions on mobile devices.
