Noor Takaful launches unique Domestic Aid Medical Plan for blue collar workers

Employers of the UAE's privately sponsored 400,000 domestic workers can now insure their drivers, cooks, cleaners, maids, or gardeners against illness, accidents, or loss of life, with the launch of the Domestic Aid Medical Plan by Noor Takaful, the Islamic insurance arm of Noor Investment Group (Noor).

The Domestic Aid Medical Plan bundles two offerings, within one easy to obtain package, that provides domestic workers with up to Dhs50,000 medical insurance coverage, plus an additional capital sum of Dhs50,000 in the event of loss of life.

Parvaiz Siddiq, CEO of Noor Takaful, said: “Aimed uniquely at employers of domestic workers, the Domestic Aid Medical Plan provides cost effective security for all privately sponsored employees, be they drivers, cooks, cleaners, maids, or gardeners.

“We fully recognise the vital role that domestic workers play in society and the contribution they make to the economy. The Domestic Aid Medical Plan will ensure that this important market segment receives the quality Takaful medical services it justly deserves. I would urge all employers of domestic staff to seize this opportunity to ensure their privately sponsored workers are properly covered in the event of the unexpected happening.”

The Domestic Aid Medical Plan is the first product to be launched under Noor’s Noor Popular umbrella, an innovative, Shari’a compliant, banking service specifically tailored for blue collar workers.

Andrew Greenwood, COO of Noor Takaful described the launch of the Domestic Aid Medical Plan, as an important milestone in the development of the Noor Takaful story.

“Many of the UAE’s 400,000 privately sponsored domestic workers have very little protection against the sudden expense of serious illness, or accidents. In addition, these workers’ families are often heavily dependent on financial support from their UAE relatives, so the Domestic Aid medical plan is designed to provide financial support when it is most required,” Greenwood said.

Initially, the Domestic Aid Medical Plan will be available in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. Noor Takaful plans to roll out the Domestic Aid Medical Plan in Abu Dhabi later this year.

Noor Takaful was created to provide ethical, Sharia’a compliant, innovative, unique and comprehensive Takaful (Islamic insurance) products that support the growing needs of the UAE economy and the GCC.

Noor Takaful seeks to offer a broad suite of general products with affordable prices to cater to the entire stream of individual customer segments, in addition to packages for corporate sectors clients.
