We can’t help you pick up what clothes to wear for this New Year’s Eve 2017/18 in Dubai, but we can get you prepared to what will happen there, and even suggest a few places to eat beforehand.
Here we go:
1- Free parking in Dubai for two days during New Year break
All paid parking zones will be free across the emirate (except for the multi-level parking lots) starting from Sunday, December 31, 2017. Parking fees will be reactivated on Tuesday, January 2, 2018.
2- Dubai Metro and Tram hours
From Sunday, December 31, 2017, the Red Line metro stations will operate from 05:00 am to 00:00 (midnight) on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. From Sunday, December 31, 2017, the Green Line metro stations will operate from 05:30 am to 00:00 (midnight) on Tuesday, January 2, 2018.
From December 31, the Dubai Tram will operate from 06:00 am up to 01:00 am (of the following day) until January 2, 2018.
3-Plans to beat New Year’s Eve traffic
Free bus shuttles to Burj Khalifa, additional parking slots and emergency services available onsite. RTA, Dubai Police, Emaar, and Dubai Civil Defense have put together a detailed plan for managing traffic at Burj Khalifa on New Year’s Eve.
4- No fireworks but yes for laser show at Burj Khalifa
Taking safety into consideration, Dubai police opted for a laser/light show to replace the traditional fireworks displays at Burj Khalifa on New Year’s Eve. The ‘Light Up 2018’ celebrations will begin at 5pm, with Dubai Fountain shows and live music.
5- No taxi pickups downtown
There will not be any taxi pickups, just drop offs in the Downtown area, and no Taxi will enter the area after 8 pm, December 31.
6-A car finder app
Event Security Committee App is a smart app highlighting all available services such as ATM machines, food outlets and will even show how to get back to your parked vehicles.
7- Fireworks and light shows around town
Burj Al Arab, The Palm, Festival City, JBR and Global Village are some of the spots where New Year 2018 celebrators can come together to watch fireworks, and light shows. There will not be fireworks at JBR, Laa Mers and Al Seef.
8-Dubai Shopping Festival
Spend New Year’s Eve buying yourself new stuff and taking advantage of the Dubai Shopping Festival that has just kicked off.
Do this at the Global village or any mall/retail outlet that participates, and enjoy mega shows, entertainment and concerts.
