Aficionado tastes the latest oriental flavours of Blue Jade restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton Dubai.
With wooden shelves, porcelain vases and sculptures, and an overall décor dominated by bamboo, Blue Jade aims to offer customers a taste of Asia at its best.
The menu boasts a range of mouth-watering creations. First things first, the starters. We suggest the Chicken Dim Sum; bite-size pieces of crispy chicken wrapped in a soft pastry. The seasoning, with Chinese soy sauce and shitake mushrooms, really balance the flavours of this appetizer. For spicy-food enthusiasts, however, we suggest the Beef Tataki. The dish is guaranteed to make your taste buds tingle.
The highlight of this review, however, was main course. We decided to try the Ginger Lotus Sea Bass at the chef’s recommendation. The presentation was impressive to begin with, with the sea bass was cooked in a lotus leaf, allowing the fish to marinate in the ginger sauce. This cooking technique is particularly widespread in Vietnam.
For meat lovers, Aficionado suggests the Black Pepper Beef. Marinated in a pepper sauce, with a touch of sweet sauce to counterbalance the flavour, the dish comes with a choice of rice or noodles, as do all the main courses on the menu.
While we enjoyed our meal, dessert was certainly the most exotic course; whether it is sticky rice and mango or roasted banana, the desserts offer a large palette of different flavours, all sweet enough to satisfy your sweet tooth. We opted for the Mango Coconut Cream Ice cream to offset the spices of the main course.
